The human body naturally produces amino acids to support its
functions. One of these so-called acids is the L-arginine which plays
a vital role in the healing of wounds and the circulation of
hormones. L-arginine is an important acid which the body needs a
regular supply of. But on the flipside, it also has its side
effects. The L Arginine side effects vary from person to person,
depending on the age and existing health conditions of the
subject.
For mild symptoms, L-arginine can cause upset stomach. This is
because of its effects on the acids present in the digestive
system. L- arginine increases the production of gastrine, an acid that
causes slight reaction with other acids in the digestive system. If
you have high contents of gastrine in your stomach, you may experience
diarrhea, bloating, stomach ache, and even constipation.
L-arginine can also result to vomiting, headaches, and nausea. This
normally happens when you take L-arginine through an IV. While most
people do not seek the help of a doctor when they experience these
symptoms, medical experts actually advice you to see one just to err
on the side of caution. The last thing you want is for these symptoms
to escalate to an even serious one because of your failure to seek
medical attention.
If you take L-arginine orally and you have existing respiratory
ailments, you may have difficulty breathing and your asthma can get
worse. This is a little more serious than the previous symptoms
mentioned, and you so you must consult your doctor right away. You may
also acquire allergies such as itching, rashes, reddish skin, and
swelling. Some people who are extremely sensitive to L-arginine
experience swollen eyes with bits of swelling in their veins.
Other side effects of L-arginine include significant impact on
potassium levels, especially for people suffering from liver
disease. If you have some issues with your kidney, you should avoid
taking L-arginine without consulting your physician first. This acid
may aggravate your condition and result to serious injury. Make sure
that you take L-arginine in moderation and that you have your doctor's
go signal before taking it. L-arginine is a beneficial amino acid, but
you must ensure that it doesn't interfere with your normal body
functions at all.
